A Short History
The Railway between Balhannah and Mount Pleasant was opened in 1918 and ran until 1953 as a freight and passenger service. The line was used for the Woodside Migrant Centre until 1958 and the Oakbank Race Carnival until the early 1960’s. During the past 40 years or so much of the rail structure has been removed, including some bridges. Thankfully much of the land is currently being cared for by neighbouring landholders.
