Issue 1: June 2008
Editorial
Welcome to our inaugural newsletter from the ‘Adelaide Hills Rail Trail Committee’.
We decided at our last meeting that it was time to share information to our members about;
- How we are progressing
- What activities we have been involved in
- Providing details of information
- And how to contact us
The members present at the initial AGM on 19 November 2007, which was conducted at the Balhannah Institute Hall, elected the committee.
Since this time, the committee has met on a monthly basis identifying how to progress forward in representing the members in the development of the Rail Trail in the Adelaide Hills.
We recognise the need to share this information with our members, and to continue to pursue recruiting new members along the way.
This newsletter will become a regular feature, and will be made available both electronically and in hardcopy.
Our aim is to ensure our members are fully informed and are able to participate and provide feedback.

Present Progress
- The committee meets on a monthly basis (usually the last Tuesday of the month). All meetings are minuted to ensure discussions are formally recorded.
- As already mentioned, we have produced an information brochure that provides details of the initial vision & concept of the development of the Rail Trail, how it can influence tourism, education, health & wellbeing, and includes information & direction on how to become a member. The brochure can be downloaded in it’s entirety from the website
- A website has been sought and is currently accessible, but is very much in the beginning stages of development.
www.adelaidehillsrailtrail.org.au
- Further information is available and we can be contacted via our email address: info@adelaidehillsrailtrail.org.au
- We have established communications with local council. Council is currently orchestrating a feasibility study on the Rail Trail, from Oakbank to Woodside. The latest feedback has indicated that the results will soon be available.
- In our endeavours to continue to recruit new members and gain an understanding of who in the community is interested in the development of the Rail Trail we have been collecting names from the general public and providing them with a copy of our brochure. To date we have approximately 750 names and 50 paid members.
Thankyou
We would like to take this opportunity to say thankyou to
